Anima Mundi Apothecary - Our Founder
Adriana Ayales is the founder, owner, and herbalist that formed Anima Mundi Apothecary in 2012. She moved to Brooklyn from her native country of Costa Rica. She had a mission to bridge remedies from her native people within Central and South America to modern-day needs and imbalances. From her tiny in-home office space she has evolved into the medicine maker, educator, and herbalist founder of Anima Mundi.
Adriana's passion was to create a true farm-to-pharmacy experience through the art of medicine-making with herbs. She believes that by preserving ancient forms of indigenous botany, we keep alive a very sacred aspect of our source. Her brand would bridge ancient healing traditions and plant remedies as a form of grassroots healthcare for today's world.
As a little girl, she devoted her studies to shamanic-style healing, hands-on energy work, and botanical studies. She focused and studied on both Central and South American tribal-style herbalism, studying with plant medicine teachers in Costa Rica, the Amazon, and California. She wanted to create a business that not only provided an actual pure and powerful form of healthcare but also cared to help preserve indigenous lands and their local economies through organic agriculture and wildcrafted goods.
