Greet the sun with our natural mineral sunscreen and without slathering yourself with toxic chemicals. Our sunblock is free of parabens, oxybenzone, nano-particles, chemical fragrances, phalates, retinyl palmitate, Paba, and all the other junk your skin just doesn’t need.
We know how tough it can be to sit around waiting for sun block to sink in, especially if you have children with you. That’s why we love our suntan lotion so much: because it’s mineral-based it’s effective immediately! It also goes on smoothly, so there’s no need to waste time wrestling with the kids to apply it.
Not all sunscreens are safe for the environment, but ours is completely ecofriendly. You can use it in Eco parks, it’s reef-safe, and it will not harm marine life. Are we bragging a bit? Maybe, but with sunblock this good it’s tough not to. Gluten Free.
How To Use
Step One: Pick the perfect sunny spot to visit. Pack a snack and your mineral sunscreen.
Step Two: Apply your sunscreen as soon as you reach your destination. Pour a generous amount into the palm of your hand, then massage into all exposed areas. Don’t be stingy (we recommend using a full ounce with each application to ensure effectiveness), and don’t forget those easy to overlook locations (we’re looking at you, back of the neck and top of the nose). Repeat these steps for any children in your care.
Step Three: Sit back and relax or get out there and enjoy the water. There’s no need to wait!
Step Four: Reapply every two hours, or if you notice your skin starting to turn pink.

Beauty By Earth was created by two friends asking a question that is so often considered these days: how can you find health and beauty products that are safe to use around young children? Like so many parents, we found it incredibly difficult to find products that were effective, easy to access, and natural. So we figured why not make them ourselves?
Since we first decided to create Beauty By Earth, it’s been one heck of a ride! But throughout this experience, we’ve stayed dedicated to the idea that got us started: inspiring beauty and nurturing health. We’re thrilled to bring the items that have enriched our lives and improved our wellbeing to you and your family.
At Beauty By Earth, we’re here to bring you all natural skin care products that harmonize with your body’s natural state. We skip the junk you’ll find all to often in mainstream cosmetics and skin products. Instead, we use organic, natural ingredients that nourish your body and help inspire your beauty. We’re committed to helping you take care of yourself and your family without fear of unnecessary or harmful ingredients. We’re also proud to say that our products are gluten free, non-GMO, and mostly vegan, making them accessible to just about anyone.
Our commitment to inspiring beauty and nurturing health extends to everything and everyone that goes into creating our products. That means that all Beauty by Earth products are cruelty free and are proudly made in the USA under sterile conditions in a secure, FDA certified facility.
Question: Is this an organic sunscreen?
Answer: Our sunscreen is not certified organic. The USDA no longer allows sunscreens to be certified organic. This is because the active ingredients are considered inorganic compounds (or minerals). However, we use organic ingredients whenever they’re available. Our sunscreen includes organic aloe vera leaf juice, organic safflower oil, organic castor oil, organic cocoa seed butter, and organic cucumber extract.
Question: What kind of sunscreen SPF does this product offer?
Answer: This is an SPF 25 sunscreen.
Question: What is the difference between sunscreen and sunblock?
Answer: There are two basic types of sunscreens: chemical and physical. A chemical sunscreen absorbs the sun’s radiation, keeping it from harming your skin. A physical sunscreen (also known as a sunblock) physically blocks out ultraviolet radiation.
Question: Is this a good sunblock for my face?
Answer: Well, you could use it on your face, but you can do better! Try using a sunscreen specifically created for the face to get the best results.
Question: Is this a good sunscreen for sensitive skin?
Answer: We don’t let ingredients that irritate the skin (like parabens, oxybenzone, or chemical fragrances) anywhere near our products. Without all that junk, our sunblock is a great choice for sensitive skin.
Question: How does this product compare to Banana Boat sunscreen?
Answer: Take a peek at the ingredients list on your average bottle of Banana Boat, and the first item you’ll likely see is “water.” We think it’s pretty ridiculous to pay for a bottle half-filled with something you could get out of the tap. Banana Boat and other large store bought brands use chemical active ingredients to protect your skin, as well as chemical fragrance, and toxic preservatives. Oh, and their sunscreen also relies on dimethicone, a suspected toxin. Fun.
Question: Is this a mineral powder sunscreen?
Answer: It is not in powder form actually; but is in the consistency of a lotion. We use zinc oxide in our sunscreen to provide physical protection from the sun.
Question: Mineral sunscreen vs. chemical sunscreen: how do the two stack up?
Answer: Mineral sunscreen sits pretty on the top of your skin, protecting you from radiation and washing off when it’s done. Chemical sunscreens, on the other hand, are absorbed into your skin. If your chemical sunscreen contains toxic chemicals, those ingredients are sinking right into your body.
Question: How does this product compare to Neutrogena mineral sunscreen?
Answer: Well, they’re both physical sunscreens, but the similarities end there. Neutrogena’s sunblock is another product with a lot of water in it. It also contains dimethicone, the same suspected toxin that you’ll find in Banana Boat products.
Question: Would you recommend your mineral sunscreen for kids?
Answer: Absolutely! We use it on our own kids. It goes on fast (even when kids are feeling extra wiggly), and you don’t have to wait a half hour to go swimming like so many other sunblocks require.
Question: Is this a good sunblock for babies?
Answer: If your baby is under six months it’s best to keep them out of the sun altogether. If your little one is a little older, though, you can use our sunblock on them safely.

Hazard Score Key:
(0-2) Low Hazard
(3-6) Moderate Hazard
(7-10) High Hazard
1. What inspired you to create your brand?
We found that clean, green skincare products were just not widely available at a good price point. The ones that were marketed as clean and were maybe affordable were not truly clean ingredients. We wanted to make truly clean products more widely available at an affordable price.
2. If you could go back to the beginning of the creation of your brand what would you do differently?
We would bring more products to market more rapidly, rather than dripping them out.
3. What advice do you have to offer for those entrepreneurs in the green beauty industry just starting out?
Do your homework. Learn about ingredients and work with a good lab and chemist to get you to where you want. Really do your homework on your market demographic so your marketing efforts are targeting the right people.
4. What is your most favorite product you have created and why?
Oh, that is a hard one. I absolutely love our self tanner. Being naturally pale, there are times I just need some color and this is definitely my go-to. But the product I use most often is the foaming face wash. It’s just so light and gives a great cleanse.
5. How do you juggle your life with such huge demands from your company?
The first few years were rough. Lot of late nights after putting the kids to bed. We would carve out from 4-8pm for the kids each day and worked into the night to keep the grind going in the beginning. It gets easier.
6. What is your morning and evening beauty routine?
In the morning I wash my face with Beauty By Earth Face Wash first. If I’m having problem skin, I’ll use the Beauty By Earth scrub and black Konjac sponge to give it an extra good clean. Then I spritz the Beauty By Earth Facial Toner and follow it up with their oil control moisturizer and eye cream. Finally, I’ll apply the Beauty By Earth tinted sunscreen before applying makeup.
At night I’ll wipe my face clean with the Shea Moisture face wipes and follow it up with the Beauty By Earth moisturizer and eye cream. If I’m having problem skin, I’ll apply the Beauty By Earth face mask before the moisturizer.
7. What ingredients are never added to any of your products?
Parabens, SLS, SLES, artificial fragrance, artificial dye, avobenzone, oxybenzone, formaldyhyde, phthalates, PEGs, petrolatum, mineral oil, soy, propylene glycol and anything harmful for your skin.
8. What is the best beauty advice you have received?
I love to follow beauty blogs like Organic Bunny and SunKissAlba for beauty advice about how to take care of your skin or even just every day routines. I’d say the best advice I have received is to follow the EWG Skin Deep database to find out how harmful each ingredient in your products are and what are the safest products to use.
9. What sets you apart from the sea of competition?
We go through a rigorous testing and formation process with all of our products before we put it in our store. We personally test everything ourselves to our satisfaction, and ensure all ingredients used in our products are safe. That’s why all of us on the Beauty By Earth team love to use our own products. We also test it on all skin types first to make sure the products are effective and great for everyone. Lastly, our price point for the quality of our products is quite reasonable.
