Laurel Whole Plant Organics is a flower and herb based facial care line, firmly rooted in mindful beauty rituals, taking purity and efficacy to a new level by using the highest quality, artisan ingredients. A 100% organic, raw, unrefined, whole plant line, Laurel sources directly from bio-dynamic farms, handcrafting each product with love, integrity and unparalleled purity. Every formula is alcohol and water free, and made using the purest, most effective vibrant plants. Whether in spa or at home, Laurel Whole Plant Organics believes beauty should be a loving ritualistic practice that begins with nurturing self-care.
Our promise to our customers and ourselves is to never use parabens, synthetic fragrances, endocrine disruptors, carcinogens, GMOs, non-organically grown plants, or any toxic chemical of any kind. Laurel WPO is committed to your health, well-being and your beautiful skin. It is a common misconception that putting toxins on your face is actually good for your skin – we beg to differ. A synthetic antioxidant in the presence of an abundance of carcinogens isn’t even remotely as powerful as pure antioxidants found in whole plants. Your skin can only handle so much harsh chemical treatment, before it starts to become harmful to your skin.
The Laurel line is also about taking time to care for yourself. We are strongly rooted in the spa and resort industry, which has taught us that slowing down and taking time to have a cup of tea and take a bath, really does take years off for the mind, body, and spirit. Everything we do is done with love; from the season it takes to grow our plants, to the months our handmade blends sit steeping, to the minutes we spend bottling a batch. From the farm to the lab – the whole making process is done with love and care, and you will feel that when you use our products. Make your skin care routine something you take time to do for yourself and it will be that much more powerful.

Why are dark circles such a special skin care case?
In my experience, under-eye circles are always a reflection of a person’s internal health and not just the health of their skin. Under-eye circles are a symptom of internal issues in the body and cannot easily or simply be addressed with a product alone.
Do you see different kinds of dark circles that women have around their eyes? If so, can you explain the different types? What are the reasons that these issues arise?
The two most common types of circles around the eyes are dark circles or puffy circles. Dark circles are more often a direct result of poor nutrition or poor sleep habits, even possible high cortisol levels or high stress in the body. Puffy circles are more of a result of dehydration, a heightened inflammatory response in the body, and possible imbalance of the kidneys, digestion, and/or adrenals.
What are some remedies that you find work for addressing under-eye circles? Explain how to achieve these and what tools you use.
Internally, I would recommend a balanced healthy diet with less inflammatory foods, increased water intake, more sleep and less stress. Externally, I would recommend lymphatic drainage massage for the face and upper body; as well as natural products applied topically to address the specific symptoms. At Laurel Skin, our eye products contain a lot of anti-inflammatory plants like Pomegranate and Borage. We also work with plants to encourage lymphatic movement, and reduce puffiness such as Red Clover, Nettle, and Fennel.
What's something that women might be able to do easily on a daily basis to address under-eye circles?
My favorite luxurious mini home-treatment is daily compressing with a warm towel and gentle massage of the face. This is going to stimulate lymph movement and an immediate improvement will be seen. (Compressing is AMAZING by the way, and my favorite thing of all time - you can do it with regular warm water, salt water, or even herbal teas at home - and you just soak your towel in it and then press towel to your face. This is highly nutritive, and stimulating to the lymph). Compressing will absolutely reduce under-eye puffiness and improve darkness too, immediately. Feeding the skin with the nutrients it needs and addressing inflammation are important to be done daily as well. That can easily be done with high quality plant based skin care such as rich facial oils and nutrient dense masks.
What's something perhaps more long-term or in-depth that they might be able to do?
I would definitely look at their bigger picture of health… such as their diet and also a full scope of their adrenal health (meaning thyroid levels, cortisol/stress levels, and other hormones), because that can affect their sleep and their body’s inflammatory response.
Do you have any other thoughts and/or insights that you'd like to share about remedies for dark circles?
Definitely be gentle and kind to your skin. Using harsh products with toxic ingredients will only slow down the lymph system and have the opposite long-term effect you would like. Compressing with a warm towel each morning, and feeding your under-eye area (and whole face) with rich nutrition and anti-inflammatory plants will be the most effective option, delivering the longest-term results.
