What prompted you to create your brand?
I wanted to create an integrated experience of beauty that drew on nature, science, feminism, and wellness. As an artist and entrepreneur, that meant creating a brand that told a story and created an experience that would also be reflected in all aspects of the products from the ingredients to the marketing to the packaging design and materials.
For a new customer trying out your brand what would you suggest as their skin routine?
I would recommend that they start with Antioxidant Dew + the Beauty Elixir that is right for their skin type. (1,000 Roses for rose lovers or skin on the drier side, Healing Bouquet for skin that is more oily, acne prone, combination, or red, and Prismatic Array for the most delicate, reactive complexions.)
We have so many customers that come to us saying their skin is oily or dry or blemish prone or otherwise imbalanced who use this combination and discover that their skin is actually quite happy and not as imbalanced as they originally suspected. It's beautiful.
What is one product in your line that you absolutely cannot live without and why?
My Beauty Elixir. It's a twice daily vitamin for my skin that moisturizes, firms, repairs the appearance of sun damage, gives a boost of clinically proven antioxidants to all of my skin care and make up, and in the winter time gives me a healthy, sun-kissed-like glow when a pallor wants to set in.
How long did it take you to create the very first product, what was the most challenging aspects of starting this business?
Years. Formulating is really fun, however vetting sources is a tedious task that I really love and challenges me. I love the people and myriad considerations involved in that process.
What is the best beauty advice you have received?
To determine whether a product or procedure is right for you, remember that good beauty practices only increase wellness.

Ultra-Sensitive: All KYPRIS products are created for sensitive skin. We recognize, however that some people cannot metabolize essential oils (less than .5% of the population) or simply prefer the scent of the sweet earth (our Beauty Elixir III: Prismatic Array smells like oatmeal cookies without raisins. True story!), while others are extra scent sensitive due to hormonal fluctuations from pregnancy or menopause, and others due to health challenges like cancer and may be scent-sensitive from undergoing chemotherapy. We seek to serve our diverse KYPRIS community as best we can. This regimen is for our ultra-sensitive members of our circle.
