What has been the most exciting part of your journey creating this brand?
I am vitalized and moved by the experience I see Red Flower customers experiencing with our products and techniques, there is nothing more exciting than positively impacting people's lives.
Of the many thoughtful testimonials that we read some really stand out and this one especially because it was written from a ravaged place
“To whomever reads this please make sure it makes it to the relevant people. I am the world's worst 'thanker' but I need to take a moment to thank you. The first time I used red flower was in Afghanistan summer 2011. I was flew to Kabul to pick up some supplies and ran out of shampoo. I found a little bottle of "red flower moonflower" shampoo in a communal bathroom. It looked like a hotel shampoo bottle, left behind by someone, and I unscrupulously used it. I don't think I have ever given a thought to shampoo in my life but.. For a moment I was transported from that dusty grim desert of war to a civilized place. I looked you up and placed an order a few days later. In that order I received a little something 'extra'. I don't know if it was intentional or not but it meant something to me. Silly I know but those small things, something civilized in a savage place really make an impact. I am a devotee since then as is my wife. I have spent twenty months there in the past three years and finally am getting around to say thank you.”
Any new products coming in the near future that you can share with us?
Our customers have been asking for more, more and more of the nature skincare collection. The nature skincare collection is a go-to miracle for hormonal, environmentally damaged skin - a toxin-free anti-aging solution that delivers on results, pleasure and lasting radiance. We have three exceptional additions to the nature skincare collection that we are in final testing with top aesthetician partners, so look out for the exceptional.
What is the most valuable piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
“Even the most subtle details matter.” The senior creative director at Shiseido, Japan, who I had the great honor of working with shared that concept with me when I first started my position in the Tokyo HQ and it really influenced my thinking. His words have carried over to every aspect of Red Flower, from our design to our ingredients to the partners we work with every day.
Of all the products that Safe & Chic carries of your line, what is your favorite?
It is very hard to choose just one because so much depends on the season, mood or a specific skin care need, but at this time of year as autumn settles in and the days get shorter, I love to take the seasonal transition to experience the full red flower hammam therapeutic treatment to get to that cleansed, warmed and euphoric place. I start with a vigorous, blood circulation boosting hammam lemon coffee blossom olive stone scrub and follow with a generous application of jasmine rose rhassoul clay
wrapped in clay I settle in for a long soak in a hot (110 F) bath filled with the hammam neroli cypress high atlas mineral soak and while soaking I slowly wash off the clay wrap in deep circular motions with moroccan mint silt purifier. The layered progression of nutrient-packed, fatty-acid rich coffee, clay, mint and dead sea salts combined to reduce toxicity in the body, increase blood flow and circulation, reduce stress and uplift energy, while leaving the skin glowing and warm, leaving me full of vigor and potential for for the change of seasons.
